Marissa CO #1 and #2

Date/Time: May 9 1pm-3pm

Location: Hecht House

Teacher Presentation: Mr. Wilson taught Speaking and Listening to foundations students using a picture dictionary, minimal pairs and a scavenger hunt. Classes were back to back with the same students so I will write about them both here.

Classroom management: It was a small class so Mr. Davis sat with the students. Students sat sat big desks shaped in a U formation.

Materials: Picture dictionary, minimal pairs website, sticky note and note cards.

Student participation: Students spoke to each other about travel. Students described what was happening in pictures in their dictionaries. Students were split into groups and told to write instructions on a note card so that the other group could find where they hid a sticky note. Instructions had to be clear and full sentences. students also pronounced minimal pairs when they were writen on the board.

Feedback provided: Whenever students spoke, MR. Wilson corrected mistakes on the white board and had other students correct the sentence and he explained the error in more detail.

Lessons on teaching you learned: Write and anounce the agenda before you start class. I also didn't know what minimal pairs were before observing this class.
