Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: My partner, Mutaz, brought along another CIES student for our first meeting, assumingly to decrease the tension of meeting and holding a conversation with a stranger for an hour, which led to an interesting conversation on how we all approach language learning. After a brief conversation about my excitement towards going to see the new Captain America movie that weekend and how it paired with their listening levels, we began talking about unique and fun ways to gain exposure to language. Mutaz told me how he liked to keep his phones language as English so that every notification could be a learning experience. While his friend talked about using interactive media such as video games as a language tool since his desire to progress through the game will give motivation to learn the frequently used words.
