Topic/Skill: Reading Comprehension and Spelling
Feedback provided to tutee: So for our last session, we read a story about Bees and the lives of bees, which was pretty dull for David unfortunately, but his mother insisted. I tried to make it fun by incorporating a spelling game, which was after he read a paragraph, I would pick a random word within it for him to spell. Sometimes it was easy, other times it wasn't. It depending on the paragraph of course. But this encouraged David to read more closely, and pay attention to the way things were written.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I'm so happy that David's handwriting has begun to look like a normal person. I really hope that whoever continues with him will continue to encourage him to practice his writing. However, I do wish I had gone over more reading exercises with him. David reads too quickly, disregarding all punctuation practically, and this leads to many errors in pronunciation. He needs to slow down and take his time, and learn to use punctuation to help. I hope that the next tutor will help him with this...I'll miss David :(
