Feedback provided to tutee: Although this was our first meeting, my tutee was open and willing to share the challenges she has with English. This enabled us to develop a plan for the upcoming tutoring sessions together.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that it is important to explicitly ask about preferred learning styles up-front because that allows future tutoring sessions to be more productive and successful. I also see the value in developing a plan that emphasizes the tutee's learning goals. With a tutee-centered approach, my tutee will feel more engaged throughout the sessions and I will be sure that I am helping in ways that are beneficial to her learning.
