Date/Time: June 17th, 11:30am
Location: Leon Public Library
Topic/Skill: Reading and Writing, Adventure
Feedback provided to tutee: Matthew will read the passage on
adventure and secret passageways. We will discuss the main ideas and
plot of the passage and then he will answer comprehension questions
about it. He will be encouraged to underline any unknown vocabulary
which he will try to guess from context and then we will go over them
together. Next, Matthew will write his own story about an adventure he
would like to go on while using the new vocabulary. He will either draw
pictures or find pictures online to accompany his story.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: It is
important that the tutee is interested in the topic and genuinely wants
to participate. I think it is good practice to let the tutee try to
guess the meaning of words on their own, and then to use them in as many
meaningful ways as possible to commit them to memory.
