Cultural and/or
linguistic topics you and your partner learned: Looking for new ways to
interact with native English speakers to improve his speaking and listening
skills. Mutaz asked me if I had any community service opportunities or knew of
any people who would be willing to help him improve his English. We talked
about his past community service experiences and the type of work he was
looking for. This conversation led into a discussion about how he felt he would
sometimes be discriminated against and ignored because of his speech. I then
told him about my community service organization, Progressive Black Men, and said
that if we had any events that I thought he would be interested in being a part
of I would let him know.
