Jordan TS #14

Date/Time: June 14 4:00

Location:  Library
Topic/Skill: Reading Day 2
Feedback provided to tutee:  I helped David with challenging words and tried to promote a more energetic reading voice.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: For this lesson we started out with David writing about what he remembered from our last session about the story, and used this writing to correct errors and help him focus in on the main points of what we had read thus far. After this we continued the reading alternating how we had done in the previous session however, assumingly because of a swim meet he had right after our meeting, this time David was having even more of an issue focusing. Despite us discussing that we would exchange readers every two paragraphs, David would often go on to read 4-5 paragraphs at a time. This concerned I as I began to wonder just how engaged he was in the reading and how much he was actually taking in instead of simply reciting the words. His lack of focus showed when he would answer my questions too as he was much more general than he had been in the previous lesson.
