Date/Time: June 17th, 12:30am
Location: Leon Public Library
Topic/Skill: Reading and Writing, Exotic animals
Feedback provided to tutee: David will read the passage on endangered
and exotic animals. We will discuss what the passage was about and
David's opinion of it. He will then answer comprehension questions on
main topic and theme, and also fine-details. He will be encouraged to
highlight any unknown vocabulary
which he will try to guess from context. We will review the vocabulary
and create example sentences using the words. Next, David will write his
own story about finding a new exotic species while using the new
vocabulary. He will either draw
pictures or find pictures online to accompany his story.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I think it is
important to use many different resources such as highlighters, colored
markers, computers, websites, notebooks, etc. in order to keep the
attention of the student and have many interactive activities. It is
important to teach students that it is okay and encouraged to re-read
and guess about the meaning of words and sentences.
