Nastasia TS #9

Date/Time: May 23rd, 11:00am

Location: Leon Public Library

Topic/Skill: Reading, Introduction

Feedback provided to tutee: As an introduction, we discussed what kinds of books, activities, and interests Matthew most enjoys. I had Matthew read several different materials to see what level he was at and what he most enjoyed. I found that Matthew can read very well at his appropriate level and that he can remember both main and supporting points if he is interested in the topic. We discussed that even though he finds reading boring, it is important to find interesting material he is excited about and to read often to improve his vocabulary and general knowledge.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that Matthew is very interested in fiction, space, cars, and sports. I learned that he has an exceptional receptive vocabulary but that he does not use them often because he does not enjoy writing.
