Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee practiced new vocabulary and phrases while teaching me about her home culture. We practiced conversation English patterns while discussing similarities/differences between our two cultures.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: My tutee is incredibly quick at learning new phrases and then applying them in context. She is also able to describe complex cultural topics in English with ease. It seems to be beneficial to discuss topics that are familiar to the tutee so that they can focus on communicating their thoughts in English, rather than developing new opinions. Talking about culture is often an easy conversation starter, and interesting!
