Topic/Skill: Speaking
Feedback provided to tutee: This was my last session with Fadia and she is close to finishing her session at a CIES too. She did not have anything specific she wanted to work on, but she was in a predicament about Ramadan starting in a week and studying during fasting since it will be difficult. Since Fadia has been making a lot of progress with everything, I decided for our last session to focus on a speaking discussion to practice pronunciation and learn more about each other.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Fadia often forgets to use linking verbs and connector words when speaking, but she definitely improved since the first time speaking. I learned a lot about her culture and the fact that it would be extremely difficult for her to study during the month of Ramadan, but her work was not letting her take off, but she planned on working it out later. She was very thankful for the tutoring sessions, and more inclined to ask questions about me and my future now than before. I would only make slight corrections in her speaking and repeat the way she said something to encourage her to speak better and correct herself.
