Topic discussed: I went to the rez with Zainab and Maddie Clement and
ended up meeting up with a few more girls from the CIES program there; like
Amal and Haloot. We went and canoed and had a lot of fun. The girls talked
about their families a lot and asked me about mine. I was wondering how the
girls from the Middle East countries were going to dress since we would be in
the water. Some were still in pant, long sleeves, and hijabs and then some
girls were in bathing suits. Zainab was in a bikini but once she saw some of
the guys, she decided to cover up.
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: when I
met Amal, I originally thought she was a CIES teacher because of how good her
English was. She spoke so fluently without hesitation and barely had an accent.
