Trevin Blount TS 14

Date Time: June 2nd 7-8PM

Location: Leon County public library main branch

Topic/skill: speaking, listening and vocabulary

Feedback provided to tutee: Keep up the excellent work, and learning more word roots in English will demystify a lot of the academic vocabulary that is used for his research.

Lessons learned about tutoring/teaching: As suspected teaching etymology is easy and fun. We went over words like euphemism and dysphemism and other words with the prefixes eu- and dys-. Since he also had some benzocaine for a cut I also went over how -caine means it is an anesthetic (like cocaine, novacaine) and from there other medical terms like -itis.
