On Wednesday May 11th 2016, I had my second tutor
session at LeRoy Collins public library with my tutee Matthew. Matthew and I
sat at a table in the corner near the computers and looked over a language arts
worksheet that Matthew had from school. The worksheet had many different
language arts exercises, such as finding the sentence with the correct grammar
and punctuation, questions about passages of a story, or giving the correct
spelling of a word. Although Matthew had previously answered the first two
pages of the handout, I asked Matthew questions from the back of the handout
which at minimum had twelve pages. Another useful part about this worksheet is
that it also included the answer key to show students the correct answer in
case they did not get it right the first time. Matthew did very well answering
the majority of the questions correctly and only losing interest and attention
during the pages with long passages.
