Topic/Skill: Subtractions and the Rainbow
Feedback provided to tutee: I helped Sung-ju follow worksheet directions for subtracting by showing him how to draw lines from one object to another and to count the unlined objects to find out the answer. I also attempted to teach him the rainbow song I learned from Barney as a kid so that he would remember the order of the colors in a rainbow. He then drew me a picture with the rainbow and many other things that I cherish.
Lessons learned: Today Sung-ju was a little more resistant than usual. I think it's because he just really enjoyed drawing the picture and he was planning to have it finished and give it to me by the end of the session. I was learning how to be a little more assertive with him to have him do the tasks I had planned for him. Overall, always a joy seeing him!
