Topic/Skill: Listening & Speaking
Feedback provided to tutee: Last session Jun had trouble speaking for longer than a few sentences, so I wanted to work on his listening and speaking skills. I showed him a short youtube clip of the show Teen Titans and had him write down notes and then I had Jun speak about what happened in the clip.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Jun did really well picking up the main idea of the short clip, but he did not retain enough details in order to speak about the clip for a longer period of time. He was only able to state about 2-3 sentences. In order to help Jun remember details, I asked him specific questions about the clip and he was able to easily answer them. After asking those questions, he was able to speak about the whole clip in more detail. This was helpful, but I found out that Jun did not write any notes down which is why he had trouble remembering. I told him for the next session he must try harder to write down notes.
