Topic/Skill: Group 3B Reading
Teacher Presentation: Angel Rios
Classroom Management: The class was very quiet and seemed very accustomed to Angel's style. There was little classroom management required. However, at one point, two students were talking at the same time, so he asked them to pause and speak one after the other.
Materials: Textbooks, whiteboard, whiteboard markers, pencils
Student Participation: Students engaged in class discussion to interest them in the lesson and then were called upon to read out loud.
Feedback Provided: Every time a student mispronounced a word, Mr. Rios pronounced it correctly for them. He also asked about difficult words to see if they understood and explained them using relevant examples.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I really enjoyed the way that he asked questions about the reading passage at the beginning of class. This engaged the students, had them thing about how the topic relates to their lives, and piqued their interest in the material before reading.
