Topic/Skill: Akiak Reading and Story Map
Feedback provided to tutee: We reviewed the pre-reading vocab and began reading Akiak. We stopped every time there were difficult words and made sure that PJ had a good understanding of them. We also practiced writing as he wrote down a story map outlining the major events in the book.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that PJ is a proficient reader, but he skips over words that he doesn't know and doesn't stop to try to figure out what they mean. I also learned that PJ needs more practice specifically with writing!
