Jessica L. CO #3

Date/Time: 5/11/16, 1pm

Topic/Skill: Reading Comprehension

Teacher Presentation: The teacher had students read a long passage in silence starting at the beginning of class.

Classroom Management: Students, for the most part were quiet and kept focus since they had to read a passage, so there were no issues.

Materials: passage, handouts, marker, whiteboard

Student Participation: The students read quietly on their own, in preparation of the comprehension quiz the following day. There was limited student interaction.

Feedback Provided: The instructor discussed the comprehension quiz that the students would have the following day in order to help them prepare for it and understand the way they will be tested. The instructor also took note of difficult vocabulary and wrote them on the board and discussed them.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I learned that it is often difficult to figure out what level reading material is sufficient for class especially since many students are at different stages within the same levels too. I learned that you can split the reading section and the comprehension section between different classes since it may be too much to do both on the same day.
