Julie CO #1

Date/Time: 4/28/16, 1PM

Topic/Skill: Writing Polite Emails

Teacher Presentation: Introduction of topic, discussion, pass out worksheet, assistance, review

Classroom management: Every student had contact with one another, and the teacher, and sat at a oval-shaped table for a close and casual environment.

Materials: White board, projector, worksheets

Student participation: The students were very active in voicing their ideas, answers, and opinions. Everyone in the classroom seemed very comfortable with the teacher and each other so they were not shy to make jokes or speak about the topic at hand.

Feedback provided: Mrs. Warmka not only taught the students about writing emails politely, but would occasionally teach the students about things in the American culture, such as phrases like "you're a tough crowd," etc.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: Being my first observation class, I was a bit nervous but Mrs. Warmka is so open and nice with her students and speaking to me, that it lowered my defenses and made me feel more comfortable. Not only did I learn how to execute a lesson plan with a class, but how being "friends" with the students makes the learning/teaching more enjoyable for everyone. I also learned that constant encouragement and being positive really sets a nice tone for the class.
