Topic/Skill: Grammar
Feedback provided to tutee: Fadia has already showed progress in her understanding of the grammar topics we went over last week. I helped her with the words/word phrases "would" and "used to", and this session we reviewed it, and added the words "always" and countable/ non-countable nouns. She has a grammar quiz tomorrow so we practiced forming sentences with these grammar topics.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Fadia learns very fast and well, and is exceptionally good at memorizing. She is able to memorize the grammatical rules but may struggle with fully understanding the purpose of the grammar rule, so I try to give her examples that showcase meaning. I also give her structural ways to write sentences and make it similar to a formula, since she is a math major. For example, showing subject + verb is the way you write sentences in a specific tense makes a lot of sense to her.
