Topic/Skill: Reading, vocabulary, writing
Feedback provided to tutee: PJ was given very positive feedback. He struggled to conceptualize words like “signified”, but he did well trying to learn the words and use them in sentences. He also wrote a very good essay that was grammatically and orthography correct.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Tutoring children is a challenge. PJ was very fidgety the entire time, though there were no problems getting him to concentrate on the tasks before him. The challenge comes in finding a way to get him engaged with the material and finding material that he will like. Overall, it was a very positive experience and showed me that I need to work with children more in order to get comfortable working with them.
