Trevin Blount TS 6

Date/Time: May 12th, 7-8pm

Location: Leon County public library main branch

Topic/Skill: speaking with a smattering of grammar

Feedback provided to tutee: He is doing an excellent job at learning to pronounce English sounds! His th sounds are sterling, in no small part to practice and the instruction of his tutor :) His use of v instead of w is also improving. He still does a few Cantonese-ish things like dropping out forms of "to be" and using transitive verbs and intransitive, so he can never drop be-verbs in English and nearly every sentence should have an object, so he should guess one if uncertain and on average he would be more correct.

Lessons learned about tutoring/this tutee:  This lesson demonstrated the value of the student-centered approach. Justin shows me how much effort is required outside of tutoring to make substantial improvements, and how the tutor/teacher is just a guide to prevent the student from going too far astray by being able to check ideas.
