Matthew Hong
Topic/skill: Vocabulary and Handwriting
Feedback provided to tutee: Matthew's handwriting is so illegible at times, that I know it's contributing to his bad grades at school. If the teacher can't read it, she may misunderstand what he's trying to so or she won't grade it at all.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Today I just wanted to see how well he knew his vocab words for school. They have to learn a lot of words for the end of the year test, so I would pick one out at random and Matthew would write a sentence with them. I then would make him write slowly, and I even wrote out for a a clean list of the alphabet and I told him I wanted him to try and copy my handwriting. When he did, it was SO much better and legible. I'm going to keep doing this...but of course have him do different exercises. But from now on, I'm going to make sure he takes his time with his handwriting.
