Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: Inhwa stated that one of the things that was most jarring for her was cashiers trying to talk to her when she cashes out. This caused her problems shortly after her arrival in the States. She did state that she likes shopping in the US more than in Korea, though, because clothes are much cheaper here. She has been here for 7 months now, and will shortly return to Korea. Because of her ability to take a year off from her job to study in the US, I tried to ask questions about S. Korea’s vacation policy; I know that the US has a greatly different policy from Europe or Russia. However, I did not describe it adequately and she was not able to understand what I was talking about.
