Topic discussed: Saudi Arabian and American cultures
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: I learned a little more about Saudi Arabian culture than I had known before, though my partner has been in the US for approximately a year and a half now, so he didn’t learn much from me. We talked about the differences in family relations between the two cultures. The main difference I noticed is that it is common for large portions of Saudi family members to live together, 13-14 people in one house. Abdullah stated that if you want to be alone, you have to plan it; otherwise, there is always someone around. This is an aspect of his culture that he misses.
