Inhwa
Topic/Skill: Intonation and Idioms
Feedback provided to tutee: Inhwa is pretty good at picking up intonation unless I speak the sentence quickly. We are going to build on her listening by continuing to practice intonation exercises at the beginning of our lesson, as some stressed words can be subtle and not as easily to identify.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Inhwa really liked this reference sheet I printed out of multiple English idioms (such as "let's dive in", "I'm just getting my feet wet", "it's back to the trenches"). The sheet helped explain what each phrase meant and provided examples. We then discussed them and tried using them in sentences of our own. We covered a good amount of expressions, and Inhwa understood pretty much all of them once I expanded on the worksheet's original definition. Modeling how they are used helped as well.
