Date/Time: May 14th 1:30-2:30PM
Location: Professor Kim's house
Topic/skill: metric units, reviewing English units more
Feedback provided to tutee: Study! While the tutee can certainly do math, to master the unit conversions for his test he needs to know them inside and out.
Lessons learned about tutoring/tutee: my previous method of showing the student what different objects weigh, how much 450 mL is etc. continued to work very well. It should be a goal to spark curiosity and I think I was successful: the student was engaged and eager to test out my scale and measuring cups. His previous tutor had told me that the student was very excited by science, I confirmed this with a brief summary of the Bernouli Principle (how to measure the volume of solids).
