David TS#4

Date/Time: Sun, 02 May 2016
Location: Black Dog Cafe
Topic/Skill: Speaking

Feedback provided to tutee: Kai was given very positive feedback. We focuses mainly on pronunciation during this session and he worked hard to hear the difference in words like mouse, mouth, math, moth, weight/wait, wheat, etc.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: He is a very hard worker and struggled to hear the differences in the different vowel sounds and reproduce them. It will be good to analyze different simple words with similar vowels sounds found in more complex and longer words so that these sounds are easier to hear and analyze for EFL students. I also learned from my student that differentiating /s/ and /th/ sounds is difficult for Chinese students because these sounds are very alike and Chinese has no equivalent to the /th/ sound found in English.
